The Kennel Club has a hidden gem but it's one they're happy to share. They have a wonderful collection of art, and they put on special themed exhibits for which they borrow from personal collections.
Since filming these videos in 2015, the Kennel Club has moved further down from its old building on Clarges Street to new purpose built premises that provide upgraded facilities for its library and gallery collection.
In this video, Ciara Farrell, Library and Collections Manager at The Kennel Club tells us about the gallery. She explains how they have Paintings, prints, porcelain and silverware showing the history of the dog, including how the appearances of some breeds have changed over the years. The collection includes famous dogs, dogs owned by famous people and rare breeds from a range of periods from the Victorian period through the 20th century and some from the early 21st century.
She shares stories about some of the exhibits, such as the glorious cup presented to the Best in Show winner at Crufts, and tells us how we, too, can get to see this artwork.
